Really pumped to bring writer and director David Caesar over to Sydney Drama School, before he heads off to direct NCIS season 2.

David has had an extraordinary and diverse career as a director and writer for both feature film and television since graduating from AFTRS in 1987. 

David’s television credits are extensive having directed shows as diverse as DANGEROUS, FIREFLIES, TWISTED TALES, ALL SAINTS, BANANAS IN PYJAMAS, STINGERS, WILDSIDE, HALIFAX FP, WATER RATS, BAD COP BAD COP, UNDERBELLY, POWER GAMES and the award-winning mini-series R.A.N.

Four of David’s films have been nominated for AFI awards including his DIRTY DEEDS (2002), MULLET (2000), IDIOT BOX (1996) and his debut feature GREENKEEPING (1992). He won an AWGIE, a Critics Circle award and best director awards for MULLET and a Queensland Premiers award for the screenplay of PRIME MOVER.

In the 2010’s he has directed the NOWHERE BOYS feature film, the mini-series’ DEAD LUCKY, LOVE CHILD, HYDE AND SEEK and LES NORTON as well as developing his own work.

Most recently David has been involved in developing number of TV shows both at the conceptual stage and in writers rooms. He has also directed over 80 episodes of HOME & AWAY as well as being set up director on DARBY AND JOAN and directing episodes of NCIS SYDNEY. As of 2024 he has four feature film scripts in active development.
